Graceful smatterings of colour make up the beautiful arrangements on Nick Zubeck’s new album, Venusian Blues. His songwriting is warm and meandering, and takes the time to wander around on musical passages for further pondering.

Atypical and adventurous singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Nick Zubeck incorporates a wide palette of acoustic and electric sounds into his compositions and recordings. Heavy on beautiful arrangements, instrumental passages, and thoughtful lyrics, his music is at once genre-defying and familiar. Nick has also kept busy as a sideman, working with varied groups like Sun Kil Moon, Great Lake Swimmers, Sandro Perri, Barzin, Royal Wood, Dana Sipos, Rich Burnett, Roxanne Potvin, and many others. Nick has performed all over the world, and has shared the stage with Will Oldham, Sonic Youth and other musical heroes. Nick works out of his Guelph studio, Arthur North, and has recorded and released seven full length albums under his own name. He also records ambient instrumental music under the name Maud Gonne.
